Lovely day

Had a really nice day out with Jenny today. The Ritz was gorgeous and tea was very nice, though I think you're really paying for the atmosphere. I've had better teas but it was still very good and I would sell my soul for a vat of their clotted cream.

Afterwards we went to Rigby & Peller. What a revelation! Ever since Tobes was born I've been wearing a 38B size bra. I'm actually a 36D!! What a surprise. I couldn't believe it. It was so fantastic. They take you to a changing room then the fitting lady asks you to strip to the waist and she looks at you, calculates your size then asks you questions about what you'd like. I explained that I had recently had a baby and needed some everyday bras. She then remarked that I'm very high-waisted and said that most underwires would be uncomfortable because they would rub my underarms. Amazing! That's exactly why I've been living in support vests for years. Most bras are just too uncomfortable.

The fitting lady then went off and chose some bras for me and brought them back for me to try. She adjusted the straps and even adjusted my breasts in each cup. It was all done so matter-of-factly that it didn't seem strange at all. I explained that I had had a breast lump removed years ago and since then my breasts have been a bit 'uneven', shall we say. She showed me how to adjust the straps to compensate. It was a life changing moment.

Needless to say, I spent more money on underwear today than I've spent in my life. I got some beautiful bras and one bra and knicker set in particular that is just dreamy. Totally impractical, can't even go in the washing machine, but soooo beautiful. Every girl needs at least one set of really beautiful under garments and it's been far too long since I indulged in this luxury. I don't think it'll be quite so long before I do it again though.

I'm envious - R&P is one of those mystical places that you always hear about. I'm glad it went well! You looked very perky today at coffee! :) :) :)
