Lovely morning

Tobes had preschool so I went down to Cafe Rouge and treated myself to a magazine, a cappucino and a croissant. I was very proudly wearing my new belly band. It's a fabric tube I bought at a Belgian maternity shop. They do them in different fabrics and you wear them under your bump for support and as a fashion accessory. Mine is swirly shades of red and cream and I imagined I looked quite stylish as I walked down the street. Sort of like Heidi Klum when she's pregnant. That is until I caught my reflection in a shop window.

I'm just going to have to face facts. When I'm pregnant I look as if I'm carrying triplets - a baby in my belly and a twin in each buttock. When I lay on my back J says I look like a VW Beetle - round belly and a boob for each headlight. I like to think of my shape as an ancient fertility goddess but I'll never look like those celebs who are all svelte and just look like they're smuggling a basketball under their top. But then, I'm not exactly svelte when I'm not pregnant so I guess it just makes sense.

Cupcake is doing really well. She was kicking loads last night. It's the most active that I've felt her. She was kicking as high as my navel for the first time and she was pushing out for the first time, making funny bumps poke out of my stomach. I think she's growing a lot right now and she can now control her movements so I guess she's starting to explore her little world.

We're still thinking about names and I'm working my way through The Baby Name Wizard and the Oxford Book of Names with a pink highlighter. Our favourite is still The Dreaded Name that was such a bomb in Texas. I did feel better when I learned that my sister and her friend actually liked it. Still compiling a list though and every once in a while I'll throw one out and see how people react. I think it'll definitely be something very traditional, even old-fashioned, but we've got about five months to decide.

The scattiness continues... I meant to put this in the baby blog!

My parents are campaigning hard for 'Elizabeth' which, unfortunately, is not helping the name's status on our list. If they quiet down I'm sure it'll come back up though.
