So, spent all day yesterday in Blackheath having our offer accepted and starting the mortgage process for the new flat. J spoke to our solicitors and our agents here in Chislehurst to tell them about the change in plans. We ended up agreeing to a moving date of 30 September because the people selling the flat in Blackheath want to wait until their baby is born before they move. It's their first and they obviously have no idea how much easier it would be to move before the birth! We tried to apply a little bit of pressure to see if they would move earlier, but nope. 30 September was the best we could get.
So our agents went to our buyers and explained that there was a change in plans. They were disappointed in the later move date but everything seemed fine. Then, this morning we get a call saying that our buyers are considering pulling out because of the change of dates!!! Aaaaaarrrgh!! Aside from us moving into a hotel or something for four weeks, there's nothing we can do. And honestly, the thought of moving out of our house then into temporary acommodation for a month, then into a flat that we need to decorate while being heavily pregnant and trying to cope with the moving anxieties of a three year old.... well, that sounds like absolute hell.
J has said that all we can offer is 30 September. We've already given them a reduction on the asking price and we just have nothing else to give. Now, our future is in their hands. If they pull out we'll have to put the house back on the market and hope for the best. Worst case scenario is that it all falls through and we end up staying in this house until next year. Not great, but we still love the house and I'm sure we'd be fine. I'd feel really bad for the people we're hoping to buy from in Blackheath though because we'd have to pull out of that deal too.
Yuck, yuck, yuck.
