Momentous event

I've just turned the heat on for the first time this autumn. We would've done it sooner but the boiler needed a little help getting started. J and I seemed to be in a stand-off as to who was going to do it and the cold has finally broken me. I had to go through an endless chain of "Push 1 for cranky operator", "Push 2 for staff who know nothing about our product", etc, etc and then scrabble around under the boiler to top it up, reset all the thermostats and finally... we have heat!

I've saved the nasty job of going around and bleeding all the radiators for J though.

radiator bleeding is definitely a man's job.. well it is in our house! I use the excuse that I'm ever so American and would hate to mess it up as I didn't grow up doing that. (Seems to work!)

We're still resisting putting ours on, but the amount of blankets on our beds and sofa is a bit of a giveaway that it's time.
